Christopher serves Vendor Strategy professionals. He works with strategists and marketers at global technology suppliers, helping them embrace the increasing importance of environmental considerations in the IT industry. His research focuses on how green IT will change the design, marketing, and operation of IT systems.Since publishing seminal research on "The Greening of IT" in 2007, Chris has become one of the leading analysts of the trend toward more environmentally responsible computing. He regularly speaks at industry events and with top-tier media outlets on green IT topics, especially the interplay of enterprise requirements and adoption with supplier strategies and business models.Chris has been with Forrester for more than a decade as an analyst and research director. He led Forrester's overall US research organization from 2002 to 2006, with responsibility for setting the firm's research agenda, budgeting and staffing, and developing high-impact research methodologies including the Forrester Wave™ and Technographics®. Chris was also responsible for research integration with Giga Information Group, which Forrester acquired in 2003.Over the past decade, Chris has led Forrester's research initiatives for IT and business executives in the automotive, consumer electronics, and telecom industries. He twice keynoted Forrester's flagship Executive Strategy Forum, oversaw the agenda and content for its Technology Leadership and Telecom Industry events, and published groundbreaking research including "The Seeds Of The Next Big Thing," "Six New Technologies For Improving Business Results," and "Telecom Reconstructed."
Before joining Forrester, Chris was a principal at GeoPartners Research, doing strategy consulting for leading technology companies. During the 1980s, he was with the investment bank Cowen & Company where he headed its research coverage of the networking industry. He also worked at The Yankee Group as a telecom industry analyst. He began his career as a member of technical staff at IBM's network software labs.
Chris holds degrees from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and the University of Pennsylvania.
